About Sydney
Therapist. Creator. Your Partner in Communication.
I'm Sydney Nygaard — a Speech-Language Pathologist based in Los Angeles with a passion for helping people of all ages communicate with confidence. I hold ASHA certification and California licensure, and I bring a deeply individualized approach to every client I serve.
I became an SLP because growing up, I watched my little sister find her voice through years of speech therapy after a profound hearing loss went undetected as a baby. Experiencing firsthand how speech therapy can transform an individual and their family's life inspired me to dedicate my career to helping others build their voice and communicate with confidence.

I work with clients from birth through adulthood — infants and toddlers developing early language, school-age children, teens, and adults seeking to improve their communication.
Areas of Specialty
My approach is functional, engaging, scaffolded, and individualized. I want therapy to feel motivating while still being measurable and clearly tied to meaningful communication outcomes.
Functional Communication First
I care most about whether therapy improves actual communication — wants, needs, ideas, and connection — not just isolated skills.
Engaging by Design
Kids and adults learn better when therapy is motivating and meaningful. I build sessions around themes, interests, and real-world contexts — not worksheets for the sake of worksheets.
Deeply Individualized
I adapt goals, cueing, language level, and task structure based on each person's age, profile, interests, and communication needs. No two plans are alike.
Family & Team Collaboration
Parents, caregivers, and teachers are essential partners. I translate clinical information into practical strategies that work outside the therapy room.
Neuro-Affirming & Respectful
I approach every client — including autistic individuals and gestalt language processors — with respect for their developmental profile and communication style.
Measurable & Outcome-Oriented
Clear goals, consistent data, and organized progress monitoring keep therapy accountable and efficient.
